Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of every episode of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 in Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence was her mother. She was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover from one job to another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Her family sometimes relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran claims that her father was a drunk who was rude to her mother and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School.
